MUNA'S COOL TOURS: Eolo, il respiro del vulcano

Appena rientrata, non potevo non scrivere almeno un post sulle isole Eolie, le sette sorelle, isole mitiche e primitive, le sette isole vulcaniche (Stromboli, Vulcano, Panarea, Lipari, Salina, Filicudi e Alicudi) tutte diverse una dall'altra, per conformazione ed atmosfere, sparse nell'arco di 90 Km di mare blu intenso.

Just come back, how could I not write at least one post on the Aeolian islands, the seven sisters, mythical and primitive islands, the seven volcanic islands (Stromboli, Vulcano, Panarea, Lipari, Salina, Filicudi and Alicudi) all different from from each other for conformation and atmosphere, spread over 90 km of deep blue sea.

Una delle mie mete estive preferite ormai da decenni, un posto magico, a tratti surreale, fuori dal tempo - specie se la si visita fuori stagione - è l'isola di Stromboli, il vulcano attivo, Iddu per gli amici, un posto dove la storia convive con la natura, uno dei vulcani più attivi del mondo con una intensa e persistente attività vulcanica, ricca di luoghi incontaminati lontani dal turismo di massa.

One of my favorite summer destination since decades, a magical place, sometimes surreal, out of time - especially if you visit out of season - is the island of Stromboli, the active volcano, Iddu for the friends, a place where the history coexists with nature, one of the most active volcanoes in the world with an intense and persistent volcanic activity, rich in wild places far away from the tourism mass.

In aliscafo avvicinandosi la sagoma ed il faraglione di Strombolicchio si stagliano maestosamente sul mare come dardi di pietra immersi nel blu.

Scesi a terra si viene avvolti dalle essenze tipiche dell'arcipelago: gelsomino, menta, limone e dal saluto tellurico del vulcano, dai suoni e dai rumori del posto: il mare, il ronzio delle macchinette elettriche o di qualche vecchia Ape, le campane della Chiesa di San Bartolo, il grido di Pesce Fresco che risuona tra i vicoli e se lo porta il vento...

Approaching by hydrofoil the shape and the stack of Strombolicchio stand majestically over the sea like darts of stone into the deep blue.

Dropped to the ground, you are wrapped by the typical fragrances of the archipelago: jasmine, mint, lemon and by the telluric greeting of the volcano, by the sounds and noises of the place: the sea, the buzz of the electrical minicar or of some old Ape car, the bells of the Church of San Bartolothe , the cries of Pesce Fresco echoing through the alleys and the wind blows it ...
