Zana Bayne, è sicuramente uno dei più interessanti giovani talenti della moda d'avanguardia. Nel 2010 lancia la sua prima collezione di harnesses con etichetta omonima, vestendo celebrities del calibro di Madonna, Lady Gaga e Chloe Sevigny; nel 2012 inizia a collaborare con fashion designer come Prabal Gurung (sempre sue le imbracature a doppio strato in pelle e pvc nell'ultima collezione presentata alla New York Fashion Week), fino ad approdare quest'anno sulle passerelle parigine presentando la sua prima collezione ready to wear per la prossima SS 2014. 

Giovanissima autodidatta (il suo primo harness, realizzato solo per divertimento, riscosse così tanto successo da spingerla a farne un vero e proprio business) creativa e fantasiosa con un gusto precocemente raffinato dalle influenze di una madre in carriera nella moda, Zana Bayne continua ad utilizzare le tecniche di lavorazione della pelle tradizionali, in un'ottica contemporanea, per produrre le sue creazioni concettuali, evocative e conturbanti. 

Questa giovane talentuosa designer realizza splendidi oggetti in pelle visivamente accattivanti e tecnicamente ineccepibili. Pezzi d'arte da indossare, accessori di fashion design, oggetti indefinibili come specifici indumenti, sicuramente fuori dalle categorie tradizionali del settore della moda. Oggetti liberi di esistere proprio come sono, in grado di essere personalizzati, ed interpretati in modo diverso ed originale da ognuno. 

In un'evoluzione perpetua, ogni collezione sembra coprire sempre di più con fibbie e finimenti il corpo, sembra riprendere alcuni pezzi della prima collezione, rivisitandoli, risolvendoli in ulteriori astrazioni dei confini tra abbigliamento ed accessori.

La sua collezione per la prossima SS 2014 - un tripudio di armature di pelle e splendide maschere immerse tra fiori e tralci di vite in una sorta di bondage naturalistico - è ricca di allusioni fetish e connotazioni erotiche, ma anche di evidenti approcci al design pragmatico e funzionale. Elemento scultoreo ricorrente, l'imbracatura a cintura: una raffinata bardatura in pelle, cinghie, rivetti, borchie e delicati cinturini di pelle intrecciata, in grado di trasformare qualsiasi cosa si indossa, e di infondere una piacevole sensazione di sicurezza e contenzione, ma diversamente dal bondage tradizionale in cui le imbracature tendono a limitare i movimenti, le creazioni di Zana Bayne, favoriscono il movimento, mettono in evidenza le curve, esaltando il corpo e la postura. E sono anche più portabili di quel che si possa pensare… perché non ad esempio per andare ad un matrimonio indossando una di queste imbracature in pelle chiara o pvc su un abito color champagne, per un effetto sicuramente stravagante ma di gran classe.

Zana Bayne, is definitely one of the most interesting young talents in the avant-garde fashion. In 2010 she launched her namesake label of harnesses, dressing celebrities such as Madonna, Lady Gaga and Chloe Sevigny; in 2012 she began working with fashion designers such as Prabal Gurung (always from her the double layered leather and pvc harnesses in the latest collection presented at New York Fashion Week), until arriving this year on the Parisians catwalks presenting her first ready to-wear collection for the next SS 2014.

Young self-taught (her first harness, made just for fun, got such a positive response that it turned into a full fledged business) imaginative and creative precociously refined in taste by the influences of a mom worked in the fashion industry, she continues to use the techniques of the traditional leather, in a contemporary perspective, to produce her conceptual creations, evocative and fascinating.

This young talented designer create gorgeous leather objects which are visually captivating and technically challenging. They are pieces of wearable art, accessories, fashion design, which are indefinable as particular garments such as specific clothing, preventing them from being placed into the conventional categories of the fashion industry.

In perpetual evolution, every collection seems to cover more and more of buckles and harness the body, resumed few pieces of the first collection, revisiting and solving them in further abstractions of the boundaries between garment and accessories.

Her SS 2014 collection - a riot of leather armor and masks set amongst beautiful flowers and vines in a sort of naturalistic bondage - is full of fetish references and erotic connotations, but also obvious approaches to pragmatic and functional design. Sculptural recurrent element, the leather harness: a refined leather tack, belts, rivets, studs and delicate woven straps which can turn anything you wear, and instill a nice feeling of safety and restraint, but unlike traditional bondage in which the slings tend to restrict its movements, the creations of Zana Bayne, favor the movement, highlighting the curves, enhancing the body and posture. And they are also more wearable than what you might think ... why not, for example, going to a wedding wearing one of these light-colored harnesses in leather or clear pvc over a champagne colored dress for a quirky effect on a classy look.
