MUNA'S COOL TOURS: FLASHY AND FASHION IN A'DAM

Un'altra splendida sortita ad Amsterdam, in piena estate, davvero non ricordavo fosse così bella in questa stagione...

Questa volta ho selezionato e recensito per voi un po’ dei miei posticini favoriti ad Amsterdam, ed alcuni dei posti più cool e promettenti che non potete perdere e dovete assolutamente vedere!

Per la mia vacanza volevo essere al centro di Amsterdam ed ho scelto di soggiornare al Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky situato in piazza Dam proprio di fronte al Palazzo Reale. Nell'hotel vi è uno splendido giardino d'inverno la cui serra ottocentesca è un monumento nazionale, anche se questo non riuscirà a distrarre la vostra attenzione da un altro monumento nazionale: l'enorme dildo che campeggia in piazza Dam! In realtà trattasi di un maestoso obelisco in cemento e travertino eretto in memoria dei caduti olandesi durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, il più celebre monumento dei Paesi Bassi, (per me incredibilmente somigliante ad una gigantesca Sabyan machine e, peraltro, in stile con i piccoli dildo che costeggiano le aree pedonali lungo le strade).

In fatto di cibo ad Amsterdam potete avere davvero tutto ciò che desiderate, ci sono ristoranti, bar, posti per la colazione o per uno spuntino veloce e magnifici take away per dolci e caffè.

Tra questi meritano sicuramente un passaggio lo Shilder's Cafè, il Maxime Cafè, l'Humphrey's bar, il Tweede Kamer coffeshop, il Greenhouse coffeshop, lo Zeezicht cafè, l'In De Waag, l'Abraxas coffeeshop, il Supperclub.

Another awesome sortie in Amsterdam, this time in the middle of summer, I really did not remember it was so beautiful in this season ...This time I selected and reviewed a few of my all-time favourite spots in Amsterdam, and some strong up-and-comers that you shouldn’t miss and you must check out for yourself! 

For my holiday I wanted to be in central Amsterdam and I chose to stay at the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky located in Dam Square in front of the Royal Palace. In the hotel there is a beautiful winter garden whose nineteenth century greenhouse is a national monument, although this will not be able to distract your attention from another national monument: the huge dildo that stands in the Dam! Actually it is a stately travertine obelisk erected in memory of the fallen Dutch during the Second World War, the most famous monument of the Netherlands (for me incredibly similar to a giant Sabyan machine and, moreover, in style with small dildos that flank the pedestrian areas in the streets).

In Amsterdam you can have everything you want, you have restaurants, bars, places you visit for breakfast or brunch and great take away stops for coffee and cakes.

Among these are definitely worth a ride the Shilder's cafè, the Maxime Cafè, the Humphrey's bar, the Tweede Kamer coffeshop, the Greenhouse coffeshop, the Zeezicht cafè, In de Waag, the Abraxas coffeeshop, the Supperclub.

Tra i quartieri da visitare più interessanti, il quartiere De Pijp, esotico, autentico e, sì, assolutamente iconico!

The Pipe è davvero cool come appare, specie se lo si visita per una session di shopping o per una birretta la sera. 

Di sicuro è uno dei quartieri più animato e vivace, una zona accogliente che si trova a sud del centro di Amsterdam, attualmente uno dei posto più cool per vivere!

Passeggiando per De Pijp noterete che la maggior parte delle strade prende il nome da famosi pittori olandesi, come Vincent Van Gogh, Frans Hals, Albert Cuyup e Jan Steen. 

Vale sicuramente la pena una visita al mercato di Albert Cuyup dove si può avere un assaggio autentico dell'atmosfera di Amsterdam, esplorando circa 250 bancarelle. Aperto dal Lunedi al Sabato attrae molti visitatori provenienti dai Paesi Bassi e dall'estero.

Fare un salto al Cuyup market la trovo sempre un'esperienza straordinaria con il suo intrigante mix di profumi e sapori esotici e speziati, di fiori e frutta fresca e, di pollo arrosto e stroopwafel una specie di ciambella tipicamente olandese, incredibilmente gustosa. Ci si può davvero perdere tra le bancarelle colorate e nei numerosi negozi dietro di loro, e si può trovare una vasta selezione di gioielli, vestiti, mobili e oggetti unici e introvabili.

The Pipe is as cool as it gets, whether you visit it for a shopping rush or for a beer in the evening.

For sure one of the most lively and buzzing neighbourhoods of Amsterdam, a cosy area wich is located directly south of Amsterdam’s city centre, currently one of the Amsterdam’s hottest place to live!

When strolling through De Pijp you will notice that most of the streets are named after Dutch painters, such as Vincent Van Gogh, Frans Hals, Albert Cuyup and Jan Steen.

For sure worth a visit to the Albert Cuyup market where you can get a genuine taste of Amsterdam’s atmosphere by exploring some 250 stalls. Open from Monday till Saturday attracts lots of visitors from Netherlands and abroad.

Take a leap to the Cuyup’s market I find it again an amazing experience with its intriguing mix of flavours exotic and spices, fresh fruits and flowers and roast chiken, the tipically Dutch stroopwafel, a kind of donut, uncredibly tasty. 

You can really loose yourself among the colourful stalls and in the many shops behind them, here you can fide a wide selection of jewellery, clothes, furniture and many unique goods.

Non potevo farmi mancare una visita al Museo Stedelijk, il più grande museo di design e arte moderna e contemporanea dei Paesi Bassi. Il palazzo, datato 1895, è stato recentemente rinnovato ed ingrandito con un'ala futuristica che si affaccia sulla Museumplein 

Qui si possono ammirare opere di Kandisky, Cezanne, Chagall, Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol, Sol Le Witt, e tanti altri.

Could not be missing a visit to the Stedelijk Museum, the largest museum of modern and contemporary art and design in the Netherlands. The building, wich dates from 1895, has been completely renovated and expanded, with a futuristic new wing facing the Museumplein. Here you can admire the works of Kandinsky, Cezanne, Chagall, Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol, Sol Le Witt, and many many others.

Ma veniamo al fashion ed allo shopping compulsivo...

Devo ammettere che mi piace molto il modo di vestire ad Amsterdam, molto personale, anche se spesso troppo casual e easy. Non penso che tutti dovrebbero camminare per le strade acchittate come una voguista e, naturalmente, poi, si deve pur andare in bici, ma di sicuro a Londra e Parigi le persone sono molto più fashion, gli olandesi invece sembrano essere più fashionisti nel design d'interni, piuttosto che nell’abbigliamento. Comunque, non ho potuto resistere ai top e gli shorts di Brandy Melville, lì non si può non trovare qualcosa di carino e visti i prezzi e gli sconti sono pentita di non aver provato e comprato altro.

Poi abbiamo affrontato una folle shopping session in due negozi molto invitanti (saldi al 70%) e pieni di atmosfera: l'Appel67 e The Collector. Qui potete trovare stili e stampe sorprendenti, così come i materiali di alta qualità, dal fashion hip scandinavo a quello italiano, oltre tantissimi marchi cool come Ash, Filippa K, Acne, Vitamin A, Elizabeth and James, Marie Sixtine, Viktor & Rolf, Isabel Marant.

Ma vale la pena anche fare un salto al The Factory per uno sguardo globale sullo street style contemporaneo. E se volete perdervi nel gotha del fashion internazionale non potete non passare a dare uno sguardo agli stand super glam di Van Ravenstein. Per le scarpe, Amsterdam è il paradiso per piedini numero 39 come i miei (la media delle olandesi indossa il 39/40), e si rischia davvero di sperperare fortune tra i ripiani dei sales di Shoebaloo o River Island.

Ho scovato due negozi che vanno assolutamente visti: Betsy Palmer e United Nude. La boutique di Betsy Palmer è il sogno di ogni ragazza, scarpe bellissime e ricercate che avresti sempre voluto indossare ma che non eri mai riuscita a trovare!

United Nude è un nuovo brand fantastico, le sue scarpe concettuali ma comode, sono eleganti ed innovative, l'ultima collezione poi è stata disegnata dal noto architetto Zaha Adid.

Per l'arredamento e gli ultimi accessori fashion, passate da Nooosugar (vende autentico artigianato moderno e decorativo e accessori per voi o la vostra casa) o Jan (dove si possono trovare lampade uniche, cuscini, set di piatti, stoviglie e anche accessori moda come borse, cinture, gioielli e orologi unici, in vari stili e classi di prezzo).

Now, let's talk about fashion and shopping, compulsive ...

I like the way people dress in Amsterdam, really personal, even if often too casual and easy. I don’t think that everybody should walk the streets like a voguistas and of course you have to go on the bike, in London and Paris people are more fashionable for sure, but I think that the Dutch are more fashion in interior design rather than in clothing. Anyway, I could not withstand the pretty crop top and cute shorts from Brandy Melville. In this store you cannot fail, you will always find something cute and in terms of prices and discounts I regretted so much not having tried and bought more.

Then we had a really crazy shopping session in two shops very inviting (up to 70% discount) and fully of atmosphere: the Appel67 and The Collector.

Here you can find surprising designs and prints, as well as high-quality materials, from hip Scandinavian fashion to Italian design lots of cool brands like Ash, Filippa K, Acne, Vitamin A, Elizabeth and James, Marie Sixitine, Viktor & Rolf, Isabel Marant.

But it is also worth a visit to The Factory for a global view at the contemporary street style.

If you want to lose yourself in the elite international fashion you can go to take a look at the stands of Van Ravenstein.

For the shoes, Amsterdam is a paradise for feet as my number 39 (the average of Dutch wearing 39/40), and you could really squander fortunes between the shelves of sales of Shoebaloo or River Island. I found two stores that absolutely must be seen: Betsy Palmer and United Nude. 

The Betsy Palmer boutique is the dream of every girl, gorgeous and sophisticated shoes that you always wanted to wear but were never able to find.

United Nude is a fantastic brand, its conceptual but comfortable shoes are elegant and innovative, the latest collection has been designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid.
